About We Fund Good

Smaller charities.
Shared support.

We bring monthly giving together around causes and places, and take on shared research and communications so supporters can find and follow smaller charities.

Why we started

More time
for the good.

Olivia Edgar founded We Fund Good to help smaller charities grow their support while keeping their attention on the work they exist to do.

Finding donors, running appeals and keeping supporters informed takes time and resources. For a smaller charity, building a bigger fundraising operation can pull attention away from delivering its work.

We Fund Good brings giving, discovery and fund communications together. The aim is to share that effort across a group of charities, so more of their time and resources can go towards helping people, animals and the places they care for.

Olivia’s background combines conservation, education and business leadership. She holds a first-class master’s degree in Marine Biology from Bangor University, has worked as Aquarium Curator at Bristol Zoological Society and has taught shark biology and conservation as a guest lecturer at UWE Bristol. She has also led software businesses, with responsibility for operations, project management, HR and finance.

The shared work we take on

Clear responsibilities

Who does what.

We Fund Good.

We coordinate the platform, research and review work, company arrangements and fund communications. We check public descriptions and keep their sources and dates clear.

Fund boards.

Expert and experienced members decide which charities join a fund and how its money is allocated. Boards meet quarterly, using evidence and knowledge of the cause or place.

The charities.

Charities deliver their work and agree participation, profiles and funding arrangements with us. Extra news and publicity are optional, separate from ordinary accountability.

Evidence and relevant judgement

A reason
behind each choice.

Research supports the fund board’s decisions.

  1. Start with the purpose. Understand the cause or place and the work the fund supports.
  2. Check the charity. Review registration, published reports, services and actual delivery geography.
  3. Read the context. Consider financial information and evidence together. Record dates, gaps and questions for follow-up.
  4. Make and record the decision. The fund board decides membership and allocations, keeping the reasons clear. We Fund Good coordinates participation and public information.

Agora, our research platform, brings source material and research together for volunteer reviewers. It helps keep their time focused on checking evidence and applying judgement. Charity updates describe the work with sources and dates; they do not attribute a particular outcome to one contribution.
