A place to turn before a crisis
Housing Matters provides free advice, support and advocacy for people facing housing stress or homelessness. Its work combines specialist knowledge with help to navigate a difficult situation, whether someone is worried about losing a home or trying to find a more secure way forward. S101
Taking advice into the neighbourhood
Working Upstream brings housing advice into familiar community settings. In a September 2025 account of the project, the charity described outreach in Easton, Lockleaze, Shirehampton, Knowle West and Barton Hill. Meeting people closer to home is part of its attempt to address problems before they escalate. S103
Staying with a difficult problem
Some housing problems need more than a single answer. Advice, support and advocacy can involve helping a person understand options, gather evidence and make their situation heard. Housing Matters connects that practical casework with local outreach, giving people a route into specialist help. S101, S103
A home touches everything
Housing is bound up with health, family life and the ability to plan ahead. Bringing advice into neighbourhood settings recognises that reaching help can itself be difficult. The strength of this approach is its combination of local access and the specialist work needed when a housing problem becomes complex. S101, S103
The detail behind the work
The annual figures cover the whole charity for the year ended 31 March 2025, including work beyond any future Bristol fund allocation. They give context for its scale, rather than showing a project budget or current balances. The spending view follows the filed accounts and the evidence available for that same year. S020
