Healthy seas, living coasts

Life beneath the surface.
Care along the coast.

Fund focus
UK seas, coasts, rivers and estuaries. Examples from England, Wales and Scotland.

From seabirds returning to island cliffs to seals resting along the shore, our seas are full of life worth caring for. This fund brings together smaller UK charities working to understand wildlife, protect habitats and help communities care for their waters.

  • Habitat protection, restoration and field monitoring
  • Plastic pollution prevention and conservation education

Bardsey Bird & Field Observatory

Decades of careful fieldwork on Ynys Enlli, documenting the breeding and migratory birds of the Welsh coast.

What they do

Its daily censuses, breeding counts and ringing build a record of island wildlife, shared through Bardsey’s reports.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue

Trained volunteers, veterinary care and specialist rescue teams help seals, dolphins and whales in difficulty around the UK coast.

What they do

Marine Mammal Medics assess animals, provide first aid and support seal treatment, while a specialist team responds to entangled whales.

Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST)

Community-led care for the seas around Arran, combining seabed exploration, practical research and opportunities for people to take part.

What they do

Community habitat surveys, underwater cameras and research trips build knowledge of Arran’s seabed and the marine life it supports.

Sea Watch Foundation

Patient fieldwork and public participation reveal the lives of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the UK, building knowledge for their conservation.

What they do

Shore watches, boat surveys and dolphin photo identification build long-term records of marine mammals and the waters they use.

The giving. The costs.

The amount designated for charities goes into the charitable pool. A small processing fee is added, with the total shown before you give.

A continuing connection.

Monthly giving builds an ongoing connection with a focused group of charities. The size of the pool depends on contributions, so it does not promise a fixed income.
