Eye to Eye Counselling Service

A service shaped by young people

Eye to Eye began with a straightforward request from young people in Rhondda Cynon Taf: someone to talk to. Its free, confidential counselling now serves children and young adults across RCT and the wider Cwm Taf Morgannwg area. The published age range runs from Year 6 to 30. S101

Beyond the mainstream classroom

Its counsellors work in community settings, mainstream schools, additional-needs schools and pupil referral units. Support also reaches young people educated outside school. Primary-age work includes children in Year 6 and above dealing with significant loss, giving this aspect of the service a particular focus. S102

Making room for different circumstances

Community outreach bases offer another way to meet a counsellor. Evening and weekend online support is available for young people unable to attend face to face. Educational workshops and advice for families sit alongside work with schools and other agencies following distressing events. S102

Listening, close to everyday life

Different learning arrangements should not make a young person’s need for someone to listen less visible. Eye to Eye’s mix of school, community and remote work is valuable because it recognises those different circumstances, rather than relying on a single place or route into support. S101, S102
