Before an interview

Women who have not secured an interview can attend career coaching. The charity’s 2024/25 report describes help with CVs, applications and identifying roles that fit their skills. This is a separate route into the service, before the dressing appointment. S130

Getting ready for the interview

Once an interview is booked, Smart Works offers an Interview Dressing and Preparation appointment. The report describes a complete outfit and accessories to keep, followed by tailored one-to-one interview coaching. Clothing and preparation meet two practical needs at the same time. S130

Clothing for the first days at work

The 2024/25 report also describes a second dressing for women who obtain a job, providing more clothes for the period before their first pay cheque. Smart Works Greater Manchester has its own accounts within a wider network; national results should not be presented as local measurements. S130

Why it matters

Searching for work, preparing for an interview and starting a job are distinct steps. Smart Works offers support at each of them, combining coaching with clothing when it is useful. That makes its offer more specific than a general clothing service. S102, S130

The filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025 report whole-charity income of £380,481 and expenditure of £375,814. These historical totals do not establish current cash or the cost of a particular service. S130
